Hello, I'm Sharon Lord, a Midwesterner by birth who became an Arizonan by choice in 2002.
I met my husband, Nathan, in late 2007; we married in 2010 and I gained two incredible stepsons (who are now adults), Ethan and Zachary.
My entire adult life, I have been involved in real estate in some facet - from selling new homes, resale homes, furnishing vacation homes, or sales and marketing for a general contractor.
I got my first real taste for the tropics in 2000, when friends took me to Costa Rica. Since then, I have longed to leave by the aqua-hued waters.
I am fortunate that my partner was not opposed to this plan; in fact, Nathan embraced the idea of escaping the rat race and living our days out by the sea!
In 2014, we took a trip to Ambergris Caye, Belize; I had been on a solo trip in 2002 and San Pedro never left my mind.
It was a stretch, but we pulled the trigger on a plot of sand on the west coast of the island, with plans to build our retirement home there "one day".
The longing for the beach life grew fast and strong, and we decided to kick our plan into full gear: By the time Zachary finished college, we wanted to make the move.
It has taken our full focus, a shifting of spending, and a lot of luck, but we'll be moving to La Isla Bonita in 2024, 3 years ahead of schedule.
