34 Days: Time to Offload Some Furniture
As we inch closer to expatriation, it's time to start selling off more of our possessions that don't make sense to move. Namely, all of our furniture. Indoors and out.
I spent most of today photographing, measuring, and entering listings on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, and NextDoor.
I'm arguably the WORST at pricing items - I either go way too high, or way too low, like my circa 2022 Patio Sectional Debacle - we had a plastic/fake woven set that sat maybe 8...? It was $650 or so on Amazon when new, and probably 8 years old. A lot of the pieces had broken webbing, it looked pretty rough in some places. I posted it for $150 and nearly had fist-fights break out.
I have a King Bedroom Set, huge sectional, 4 counter stools, 2 end tables, 8 patio chairs, a fire table, another patio table set, TV console, and some collectables that were gifted to me posted today on all 3 platforms. I blew out a Dining Table we used maybe twice before we left for Vegas, I knew that would go fast! I probably should also try to sell our mattress, 2 remaining TVs, and some random dining chairs we have, since they also aren't making the move. I tried to focus on the higher-dollar items today, while also battling a screaming headache and some nausea.
I am hoping that is only temporary as we have eye doctor appointments tomorrow, plus in general, still so much packing and planning to do! And that it's not the stress flood making me feel awful. In case you haven't heard, there's a category 5 hurricane, Beryl, headed towards the Yucatan Penninsula. Before I left to furnish our villa in just a few days in 2022, I made myself sick with worry, too. Very possible we have a repeat situation here. Now the trip is permanent, and I have a husband and 3 cats with me.
The current thing that IS keeping my stress level down is not having to have our home "show ready" every. Single. Day. We are clutterers. We let dishes stack for a day or two. It was exhausting having to make our home look like a model home every morning, with a perfectly-made bed, stashing all the cat's bowls, making sure sinks were spotless, etc., before getting started on anything else, just in case someone booked a showing. So I have that going for me!
We shall see what tomorrow will bring...hopefully less malaise and more furniture sales!
