Procrastination Queen; A Perfect Weekend
Last week was a whirlwind of trying to finish my large Feature Project for Live & Invest Overseas. My copy was mostly complete but due to Tropical Storms and/or generally rainy conditions, I didn't have the photos and videos I wanted. I repeatedly kicked myself for not taking more photos in general; I have taken for granted where we live and also didn't anticipate landing such a large assignment so soon.
Add to that some activities that I wanted to participate in, like SAGA's Open House for their new animal shelter (this one has floors that can be sterilized! And air conditioning! Photos are in that link. The "Y" shaped rainbow tunnel in the cat room is one we donated a few weeks ago, it warms my heart that they use it!) and a Farmer's Market, and my calendar was FULL!
We were both relieved/ecstatic that the weather for the weekend was going to be sheer perfection! A northerly "cold front" rolled in, and temperatures reached only the upper 70s, the humidity dropped considerably. We both related it to a perfect day in San Diego. Unreal!
Saturday, we started out with breakfast at Estel's and then headed to Secret Beach. The downside to northerly winds is that they make the water on the west coast choppy, but the east coast is pretty flat. We drove around a little, but the roads were still pretty flooded. I did find the best logo for a beach resort (for me, my favorite drink is champagne!).
With Sunset Palace closed for renovation, we opted to try Wet 'N Wild, the next-closest bar, and hoped since it was more of a "local spot", that pricing was fair.
...It was not.
The "furniture" was pretty much destroyed, they had a few "docks" that looked like OSHA nightmares. The bathrooms had no running water, which leads me to question how they prepare food. This one gets a hard no from us.
Since the water wasn't fit for snorkeling and was quite cold (relatively speaking), we headed back towards town and decided to try Castaway. It looks very touristy/fancy from the road and normally, we wouldn't have given it a shot, but it came highly recommended by the couple I interviewed for my Feature Project.
Nathan ASKED me to take a photo of his meal, it was so good!
The grounds are beautiful; they have a lazy-river-esque pool, and a large wooden play pirate ship for kids. Nathan's beer-battered fish and chips were the best we have had in a long time - and there are many fantastic options on this island! It was like Long John Silver's batter on fish caught this morning. So incredibly good! We half-joked all weekend about getting more. My chicken fajitas were delicious, as well. The true shocker was we had two entrees and 4 drinks for BZ$14 less than the 8 drinks we had at Wet 'N Wild.
Sunday morning we drove around a bit and enjoyed the amazing weather, then headed north with no particular destination in mind. The road north of the Secret Beach turn-off has some intimidating potholes filled with water, so when we reached Mangata Villas, we pulled in to try the Moon Bar.
Every bit of this resort is high-class; it's exceptionally well-maintained, clean, and inviting. Sunday specials are 2-for-1 margaritas and $5 off other cocktails; any beer is $5, as well. There were never more than 6 other guests at the bar, and it's adults only, after my heart in every way! They serve wood-fired pizza that is really good - no need to put anything else on the menu!
My frozen coconut mojito was LEGIT!
The neighbor's dog made herself comfortable on the bar stairs.
I was so busy trying to finish my project, I forgot to post a "Flower Friday" on my Facebook Page, I'll be sure to double up this Friday!
Enjoy your week!
