18 DAYS: Signings and Moving Preparations
Prime Days derailed me a bit, so I have a few days to report on this blog...
Monday (DAY 20) morning I had a mammogram, which was my last scheduled medical appointment. I'm on the fence/unsure if I'll be able to squeeze in a skin cancer screening and/or another dentist visit before we leave. No issues on either, just general maintenance.
Monday afternoon, I went down to Ethan and Lilly's rental house in Tempe; we had a mobile notary come out for them to sign the closing docs on their first home! So very proud of them.
They will close escrow today! I will go get the key from the lockbox once we get the "all clear", and simultaneously offload boxes of stuff we aren't taking to Belize. Their timing is impeccable, heh!
Tuesday (DAY 19) I scheduled turn-offs for the utilities at our home, forwarded our mail (to Ethan and Lilly's new address - we voluntold them they would be our U.S. mailing address as part of my real estate agent services), and changed addresses for banks and credit cards. I also updated our sofa delivery date and address to Belize Freight in Houston, who will be our freight forwarder.
We are also down to the final bins to pack...we did a quick Home Depot run last night to purchase 3 more "just in case" we get down to the wire and have some extra items. I was infinitely frustrated that many of our "vacuum bags" developed leaks, whether from misuse or 190f temps (I exaggerate, but not by much), so I ordered more via Amazon. Plus some other goodies, naturally - Prime Days hit at the best possible time for us! I stocked up on their reef-friendly sunscreen and picked up some items that I think we'll appreciate in Belize - a USB charging fan (for power outages), a cooling blanket, a few bottles of Picaridin (my favorite bug repellant for the tropics!). I am an Amazon Affiliate and may earn a very small commission that doesn't impact your pricing if you purchase items from my links - but these are all items I use personally and would recommend!
The escrow agent on our home's sale called and we scheduled our signing appointment for today at 2PM, so we're excited to check that big item off of our list! And also very VERY excited to get a proceeds check when the sale closes on Tuesday.
Mood-wise, I am somehow less stressed than in weeks prior, but Nathan is experiencing a high level of anxiety; he feels we are way behind on the schedule for packing. I keep telling him that we have 5 days to pack the trailer, and some things we have to pack as we load out (i.e. cat trees, our current bedding). I do have a few more items to sell, so I'll reduce their pricing to get them sold.
Tomorrow the move truly gets real - the trailer will drop between 7 and 11AM! Here we goooooo......!!!!
